Default My other money pit... finally getting the engine together

After finally having enough funds and enough time, I started to piece together the engine for my K5 Blazer.

    ARP studs Installed

The manifold and valve covers are just sitting on top for now to keep debris out along with the oil pan. Still need to install the oil pump and valvetrain components.

    Specs-
    406ci (6.6 liters)
    Dart Block
    Forged Callies Crank
    Forged Callies Rods
    Forged JE Pistons
    AFR 210cc Eliminator Alum heads
ARP Pro Series 190k psi head studs
    Felpro MLS head gaskets
    ARP Main / Rod studs
    Comp 280xfi Roller Cam
    Comp Pro Magnum lifters
    Comp Pro Magnum rockers
Billet Timing Chain with Cloyes cover
    Pro Comp EFI Intake
    Accel 1200 CFM throttle body
    PP Fuel Rails (not shown)
    50lb injectors (not shown)

The engine is built to take boost. Hopefully my budget will allow for a large turbo and larger injectors this summer. Most OEM small blocks will crack in half after 800whp. This engine can easily take 1400whp with the proper turbo.

    Its going in this:

Sounds good. Looking to some major 4 wheeling / camping this summer. Maybe Moab too.

Its an old school motor with newer high tech parts that do very well on these engines. I've built 4 small block (mouse) engines and 4 big block (rat) motors and they are easy to build. Plus the parts are very cheap. A few asked me why not the LS1 and to be honest, I don't think its a good motor to take more than 15lbs of boost. It only has 4 small head bolts around the cylinder bore. Plus the LS1 is more expensive for aftermarket parts. LSX and SBC has 5 head bolts. The LSX is way out of my price range.

$2k. Not cheap but I wanted something stout that wouldn't give me issues. The old 400 OEM block is cracked and will be made into a coffee table soon.

Yep, I'm still trying to clear out years of accumulation underneath it!

I bet it would! You should start a engine build for your truck. For cheap HP and Torque, I'd consider a BBC with a roller cam. Just stay away from the peanut port heads. If I had to do it over again, I would have built a 1st gen K5.

Thanks. I was surprised the machine shop liked the intake. He mentioned he had better luck with that brand on fitment. It was good to meet you the other day.
